Director of Architecture
Brett Hertzler is the Director of Architecture in MKDA’s Miami office, where he is responsible for conceptual and schematic design of mixed use, hospitality and residential building projects.
Brett joined MKDA in 2014 with substantial experience on many notable assignments, including restaurants NU and New York Strip; resorts Staniel Cay Resort and Shephard’s Beach Resort; and Fort Lauderdale mixed-use complex New River Las Olas. At MKDA, Brett has worked on S Hotel Jamaica, 900 Sistrunk Blvs, 80 NE 40th St, DUOS Hotel and more.
Prior to joining MKDA, he owned a successful design-build firm for 14 years, and has worked at prominent South Florida architecture firms, producing conceptual and schematic building design for national and international commercial, residential and hospitality projects.
Brett’s unique blend of creative and practical talent translates into an integrated approach that considers architectural design to emerge as a response to the social and formal urban fabric, where buildings and spaces evolve in response to the behavioral and interactive needs of its users, creating a beauty that lies in the delicate negotiation between utopian design and it’s functional requirements.
Hertzler graduated Cum Laude with a B.Arch. from Florida Atlantic University, where he was awarded the First Place Thesis Award. He is a licensed General Contractor who currently holds certification in the State of Florida.
