Oscar I. Garcia
Director of Hospitality
Distinguished architect Oscar I. Garcia, AIA, NCARB, in 2016 joined the Miami office of MKDA to develop the hospitality division of the firm’s architecture studio. As Director of Hospitality, he will be responsible for developing mixed-use, hospitality, restaurant, retail and residential new business. On complex assignments, he will collaborate with the MKDA team to provide integrated architectural solutions, and visual strength.
Since joining MKDA, Oscar has leveraged his global reputation to initiate high-profile assignments that include One Fifth, a 4.2 million-square-foot development opportunity; The Spanish Court Resorts, a newly branded hotel chain in the Caribbean; and Casa Mar, a reimagined Caribbean resort.
Prior to joining MKDA, Oscar was in private practice as a design consultant to various firms. He solidified his reputation from 1995 until 2010 as principal at Garcia + Ferrari / Architecture and Interior Design, a full service Fort Lauderdale-based design firm that specialized in hospitality. During that time, he led the celebrated architectural work on Atlantic Hotel, The Hilton Beach Resort, The Trump International Hotel and Tower, all on Ft. Lauderdale Beach, and the Omphoy Resort in Palm Beach.
The firm also provided Interior Design services for the Renaissance Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, The Inn on Fifth in Naples, The Crowne Plaza Resort in Orlando, and The Flamingo Residences on South Beach, as well as many other constructed and proposed developments locally and in the Caribbean.
As an NCARB certificate holder and AIA member, Oscar is up-to-date on current professional standards and best practices. He earned Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Applied Science degrees from Ball State University. He was a member of the City of West Palm Beach Historic Preservation Board from 2012-2013.
