Local Initiatives Support Coalition (LISC)

When LISC tasked MKDA with creating an innovative, 60,709 RSF space for its new office, the firm decided to take a unique approach that incorporated contemporary design ideas, which would best represent LISC’s brand. Relocating to the Downtown Business Center from the Garment District, the project team created an open-ceiling, industrial look that capitalized on the location’s surrounding river views.

The space features huddle rooms, break-out collaboration areas and multi-purpose reconfigurable board rooms with an advantageous skyfold partition. In addition, it includes spacious cafes, an interconnecting staircase and pops of color throughout the workplace. The ceiling’s slab is exposed with custom slat ceiling constructions and decorative, suspended light fixtures to help identify different work areas. The most striking features of this space is its spectacular views of both rivers and downtown bridges with expansive exterior glass and adjustable, low-rise workstations, which accentuate the beautiful landscape and provide the office with plenty of natural light. The combination of these design aspects result in an exceptional, distinctive office space that maximizes employees’ well-being and productivity.
