Lon Gordon Skidds

Senior Vice President

Lon Gordon Skidds, AIA, NCARB, is a senior vice president in MKDA’s New York office. Since joining the firm in 2004, Lon has provided project management on a diverse range of interiors projects.

In addition to overseeing the implementation of prebuilt and turnkey suites and major building repositionings for owners such as The Durst Organization and Vornado Realty Trust, Lon has overseen corporate projects that range from financial and legal to new media and technology.

Recent corporate work includes multiple projects for 3D printing company Makerbot, including a Brooklyn-based Headquarters and manufacturing warehouse facility, and multiple floors for online design retailer Fab, recognized by Interior Design magazine as a 2013 Best of the Year Honoree. He is also overseeing a sizable project in New Jersey for law firm Connell Foley.

As a National Council of Architecture Review Board (NCARB) certificate holder and AIA member, Lon leverages his broad knowledge base to ensure the firm’s adherence to professional standards and to assist the firm in pursuing national assignments.

With an emphasis on collaboration and timely and budget-conscious work that successfully integrates original design concepts, Lon is frequently retained for projects that require the technical application of designs originating from international teams. He has collaborated with international design teams on showrooms for SieMatic, Clive Christian and Paula Ka as well as the L’Atelier and Essential Restaurants.

An active participant in company-wide quality control, Lon provides mentorship to the firm’s junior architectural and management staff, educating the team on accountability and the mitigation of costly project errors and change orders.

Lon holds a B.Aarch. from New York Institute of Technology.
