MKDA Completes Boutique Prebuilt Program At 600 Madison Avenue in the Plaza District

New York, NY, November 3, 2010—Corporate interiors firm MKDA has completed a prebuilt program and common area upgrade at 600 Madison Avenue, a Ruben Companies property. Located on the building’s 21st Floor, the prebuilt program was devised with high-end finishes that reflect the quality of the surrounding Plaza District.

“Ruben Companies required that the single unit be subdivided into two prebuilt units with a luxurious boutique feel that would appeal to multiple tenant types seeking office space in the prestigious Plaza District,” said MKDA President Michael Kleinberg.

The design firm created an open and modern interior environment that maximized the building’s sweeping Central Park views and usable terraces, making the 2,300- and 3,600-square-foot prebuilt units feel much more spacious. Each unit consists of private offices, conference rooms, workstations, pantries, copy rooms and IT rooms.

“These boutique office suites, which have access to individual private terraces, were enhanced with cool yet warm high-end finishes that create a bright modern interior with dimension and warmth,” added MKDA Designer Wendy Nuñez-Formickella, LEED AP.

MKDA used light grey carpeting with metallic yarn, as well as glass and metal Faram wall systems with sliding doors, throughout work areas, private offices and conference rooms. The elevator lobby was fitted with coordinating carpeting and vaulted ceilings. White stone flooring was used in the reception areas and pantries, which were further brightened by light-toned finishes and granite countertops.

MKDA opened up the existing restrooms, without altering their dimensions, by using interesting materials and finishes—such as stainless steel partitions, textured light grey flooring and modern bathroom fixtures. The firm also created a new restroom in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

“MKDA was able to create an interior environment in keeping with the prestigious Plaza District office market and to improve marketability of these offices to tenants with boutique requirements,” said Ruben Companies Principal Jonathan Yormak.
