Two Financial Services Firms Maximize Their Investments With Offices Designed by MKDA
New York, NY, September 20, 2011—Two financial services firms—hedge fund Woodbine Capital Advisors and securities trading firm JNK Securities Corp.—expanded into offices at 499 Park Avenue and 902 Broadway, respectively, tapping corporate interiors firm MKDA for design solutions that would “maximize their investments”.
“Many factors go into the design of offices for financial services firm,” said MKDA President Michael Kleinberg. “Spaces must be flexible, efficient and cost effective, but also help recruit and retain talent, express corporate identity, and meet the expectation of high-net-worth clients.”
Comprising the full 16th floor at 499 Park Avenue, Woodbine Capital Advisors has been outfitted with trading desks that accommodate up to 30 traders and glass-enclosed private offices at the perimeter that allow visuals to the traders.
The high-end aesthetic was accomplished within a strict budget through the use of a neutral off-white color palette with rich chocolate Wenge Wood veneer accent walls, and furniture and artwork set against clean architectural finishes, such as white marble flooring with black-brown striations.
“We stayed within our budget by using a mix of new and existing furniture from Woodbine’s previous location, and infused sophistication into the space through crisp accents,” said MKDA Creative Director Edin Rudic.
Situated on the Penthouse Floor at 902 Broadway in the Flatiron District, JNK Securities Corp.’s office space comprises a large trading floor accommodating 24 traders plus a boardroom, multiple meeting areas, private offices, pantry and a gym with a private bathroom.
The reception area was designed to maximize brand impact with a glass-enclosed server room that embodies the firm’s reliance on high-tech communications and a mural of the firm’s founders on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
The open work area features high ceilings and a massive skylight that pours natural light into the space. In order to retain these open, airy and loft-like qualities, MKDA utilized tones of brown and cream and a steel beam system to support light fixtures in the self-supporting, modular private offices. Textures brought warmth to the space.
“The challenge was to maintain the openness while adding warmth and sound absorption for conference calls and meetings,” said MKDA Principal Jeffrey Kleinberg. “The solution was to place the private offices and conference rooms along the perimeter where dropped ceilings are better able to absorb sound.”
