MIAMI, FL— MKDA, a preeminent architecture studio located in the Wynwood Art District of Miami, today announced that architect Oscar I. Garcia, AIA, NCARB, has been named Director of Hospitality.
Mr. Garcia, who joined the firm in 2015, will guide the existing hospitality practice at MKDA. He will be responsible for the development of the MKDA hospitality studio through mixed-use, hospitality, restaurant, retail and residential business development. He will also contribute to complex assignments by providing integrated technical and visual architectural solutions.
“Oscar is a distinguished architect who joined MKDA with an outstanding reputation and portfolio of notable buildings,” said MKDA Executive Managing Director and Director of Design Amanda Hertzler. “He has been a tremendous asset to our firm, and will continue to help shape MKDA as a leading Miami-based hospitality architecture and design studio.”

Since joining MKDA, Oscar has secured a handful of prominent assignments, including: One Fifth, a 4.2 million-square-foot development opportunity; Casa Mar, a reimagined Caribbean resort; and The Spanish Court Resorts, a newly branded Caribbean resort chain currently under construction.
Mr. Garcia was in private practice prior to joining MKDA. From 1995 to 2010, he provided integrated architecture and design out of Fort Lauderdale as principal at Oscar I. Garcia, AIA Architect, and President at Ferrari Interiors. His celebrated architectural work during that time includes: Atlantic Hotel, The Hilton Beach Resort, The Trump International Hotel and Tower, all on Ft. Lauderdale Beach, and the Omphoy Resort in Palm Beach.
Mr. Garcia is a member of The American Institute of Architects and an The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) certificate holder. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Applied Science degrees from Ball State University.
