Daniel DeSiena

Executive Vice President

Daniel DeSiena is executive vice president and director of design at MKDA, where he oversees project development and ensures strict adherence to budgetary and design standards. He has been with MKDA since 1983.

Previously, DeSiena was a residential designer in New York and Connecticut specializing in highly detailed homes and apartments. He was the project coordinator for Celanese Corporations, Celanese House, and the Celanese Home Show, the annual color and demographics forecast presentation to the home furnishings trade.

DeSiena is a founding member of the Council of Drawings and Prints and the Decorative Arts Council at the Cooper-Hewitt nominating committee for the Smithsonian Institutes National Design Awards in 2005.

DeSiena is also a founding member and fund raising chair for Green October, New York City’s first interior design environmental exposition and trade show. He is a founding member and fund raising chair of Green Design New York. He was instrumental and the development of the first environmental newsletter in the design industry, which had an international readership.

As a longstanding member of the Institute of Business Designers, DeSiena was an active committee member and chair of the IBD planning committee, which was instrumental in the creation of the International Interior Design Association, IIDA. DeSiena is a long standing member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation as well as a donor member of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He has also been a contributor to Interior Design Magazine and Contract Design Magazine. His work has been in Interior Design and Contract Design Magazine, The New York Times, Corporate Design Magazine, and numerous product catalogs, including the most recent Knoll Product Profile. He has also been a presenter to the IFMA Lunch and Learn Series and has been invited as an attendee to the Promosedia in Udine, Italy.

DeSiena holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from The State University of New York (SUNY). He studied law at Cleveland State University’s School of Law, and Interior Design at the prestigious Parsons School of Design.
