Kristin Aldan Gudmundsdottir
Kristin Aldan Guðmundsdóttir, Intl. Assoc. AIA joined MKDA’s Washington, DC studio as Executive Managing Director at the studios’ conception in 2019. Kristin was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, and spent her childhood in Sweden. With her passion for architecture and design, she headed to Madrid where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Architectural Design at Escuela de Artes Decorativas de Madrid. .
An interior designer and workplace strategist with 15 years of experience, Kristin was formerly a Senior Project Designer at Gensler, where she led design projects ranging from large scale high-end law firms to smaller unique historic projects. Prior to her tenure with Gensler, she owned InnArk, a leading design firm in Iceland. Her experience in architecture and interior design comprises corporate workplace, retail, hospitality, showroom and residential projects. Many of her high-end projects at InnArk have been published in a variety of media, and Kristin also became one of 3 recurrent judges on a TV reality show.
With her design concepts rooted in research and a focus on the specific client needs and character, Kristin takes great care in selecting materials and lighting that create the unique atmosphere and style that define each and every project.
