Vintage Touches with a New York State of Mind

MKDA designed an innovative double-entrance lobby at 114 W 41st Street with an exclusive tenant amenity center that supports various user experiences at its core. Following the building’s motto to “discover different,” the project team included a number of unique and fun twists at every corner. The hallway leading to the center gives individuals a taste of the space’s personality; distinctly New York images adorn the walls with photographs of renowned New York athletes, movie scenes and artists. Upon entering the amenity room, one is immediately drawn to a framed board where vibrant colored skateboards hang from a teal panel.

Underneath this panel are gray, bleacher-like seating and a vintage red telephone booth, producing the ultimate recreational escape. The space features a fully-stocked pantry and tea and coffee bar as well. The wooden bar has old-fashioned lanterns on each side, paying homage to the building’s historical roots, while self-serve coffee and tea taps give it a contemporary flair. The adjacent pantry area consists of a sleek white center island contrasted with black high-top chairs and suspended light fixtures, providing an ideal socialization environment.

Various Areas for Recreation and Relaxation

Across from the pantry area, a hallway leads to additional seating and a media space. A local artist painted an abstract, whimsical mural on the wall to inspire creativity and style. The media area has two flat screen televisions along with accent furniture that makes the space stand out further. A separate, private room contains a billiards table with a library wallcovering creating a more intimate and peaceful place to unwind during the workday.
