TECHNICAL PROJECT ARCHITECT

Company Preview:Established in 1959 in NYC, MKDA became the Garment District’s leading design firm, designing showrooms for high profile fashion brands. In the 1970’s the firms practice area diversified and was expanded to full scope integrated design services for Retail, Workplace, Hospitality and Lifestyle Projects. MKDA is Headquartered in New York City with offices in Florida, Connecticut and recently opened the Washington DC office.

 

Position Preview:The DC studio is currently seeking a motivated, technically strong and creative Senior Architect with 8 -12 years of Interior Architectural design experience, Architectural Documentation, Technical Detailing and Implementation. Candidate will run projects and assist the Design Lead with creating construction documents, general drafting and detailing, and performing general construction administration.

 

Candidates must have as strong organization, team building and relationship management skills in addition to excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be motivated by helping create impactful environments. Salary commensurate with the education, professional experience and demonstrated knowledge. MKDA is Equal-opportunity employer. Key Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Manage client, team and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants
  • Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials
  • Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges
  • Maintain project manual and specifications
  • Conduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI’s during construction

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interiors
  • 8-12 years of project experience in an architectural practice on interiors projects
  • AIA registered Architect
  • LEED accreditation preferred
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and MS Office
  • High knowledge of building codes, standards, and building construction types
  • Demonstrated expertise in sustainable building practices and/or office leadership in sustainable building practices experience preferred
