Celebrating 65 Years of Design Excellence

Our year-long 65th Anniversary celebration reflects over six decades of design leadership and innovation. Since its founding in 1959, MKDA has continually reimagined what built environments can be, creating spaces that empower how people work, live, and connect.

“Every project and every partnership has fueled our passion to create spaces that meet today’s needs while shaping the possibilities of tomorrow,” said MKDA CEO Michael Kleinberg. “We are deeply grateful to our clients for the trust they place in us. Their belief in our vision challenges us to think bigger, design smarter, and continue delivering lasting impact.”

Rooted in a legacy of design excellence, MKDA was founded by Milo Kleinberg, whose pioneering office and showroom work in New York’s Garment Center set the tone for a client-focused, forward-thinking practice.  Over the decades, the firm evolved under Michael and Jeffrey Kleinberg—expanding its capabilities through integrated project management, adopting emerging technologies, and a signature approach to prebuilt office programs that helped shape industry standards.

Today, MKDA operates as a full-service interior design firm with ground-up architectural services delivered through its Florida-licensed Miami studio. Across its studios in New York, Stamford and Miami, the firm delivers integrated, high-impact solutions across workplace, healthcare, hospitality, mixed-use, and retail sectors—partnering with developers, landlords, and tenants to create thoughtful, future-ready spaces. By combining the trusted execution of its New York headquarters with local insight in South Florida and other key regions, MKDA delivers regionally attuned design defined by creativity, precision, and rigor—spaces that foster community, elevate user experience, and drive long-term value.

“Building on our roots and thoughtfully expanding into new sectors and markets, we’ve positioned MKDA for a future defined by greater impact and innovation,” said Partner Jeffrey Kleinberg. “As we continue to grow, out priority remains the same: designing spaces that reflect our clients’ ambitions, support their culture, and help them succeed well into the future.”

Consistently recognized among Interior Design magazine’s Top 100 Giants for both Interior Design and Hospitality, MKDA continues to shape industry standards through purposeful, human-centered design. As the firm continues to expand its national presence, it remains deeply rooted in the communities it serves—guided by a strong commitment to philanthropy and social responsibility. Most recently, MKDA provided philanthropic support to the UJA-Federation Brooklyn Hub, a vital resource offering job training, mental health services, and career development to underserved New Yorkers.

“At MKDA, our commitment to design innovation and the communities we serve has only deepened over the past 65 years,” said MKDA Principal Jarad Kleinberg. “Our legacy is built on trust, creativity, social responsibility, and collaboration—principles that continue to drive us to push creative boundaries and deliver transformative experiences that empower our clients, enrich communities, and reflect the values and aspirations of those we serve.”

As MKDA steps into its next chapter, it continues to set the stage for the future of design—merging legacy with forward-thinking strategies to create spaces that inspire, connect, and endure.
