MKDA, a national design firm offering full-service interior design and architecture among its New York, Miami, Stamford and Washington, DC studios has completed a 20,000-square-foot workplace on the Second Floor at 600 Steamboat Road in Greenwich, CT for investment firm Eagle Point Credit Management LLC (“Eagle Point”).

The financial firm relocated from 20 Horseneck Lane to the Class A office property, where MKDA has designed a total of 70,000 square feet of office space for financial firms that also include Altpoint Capital, AMCI Holdings and Eldridge Industries.

“Though we’ve completed a few workplaces at 600 Steamboat, Eagle Point had unique challenges that were overcome through strategic planning and design concepts that eschewed trends,” said MKDA Executive Managing Director Julia Lindh. “Instead, we devised simple and proven strategies to create a timeless and elegant workplace that meets the firm’s needs for function, adaptability, longevity and aesthetics.”

MKDA’s concept married a high-end classic design alongside strategic planning to create a 100-person layout that appropriately separates the various business units under the broader Eagle Point umbrella—namely Eagle Point and Marble Point Credit Management LLC (“Marble Point”)—and creates connectivity through common areas while preserving room for growth.

MKDA devised a shared public reception and conference center at the front of the office that features an executive pantry, two conference rooms, and a boardroom with fabric wrapped panels, a custom Woodtech solid-surface table with seamless drawers along the edge for IT/AV, and access to the waterfront terrace.

The design team used white porcelain marble tile flooring, contrasting natural walnut millwork and glass wall systems with sliding doors and black hardware throughout. In reception, the team added a custom wood and white stone desk, topped with a custom bronze pendant light by Hubbardton Forge.

A wood slat feature wall provides wayfinding into the separate private areas, where Eagle Point and Marble Point—which were positioned on the waterside and streetside perimeter wall, respectively—were provided with their own amenity spaces and open trading floors. The design team added 23 private offices along the central core of the space to create a division between the business units.

A door connects the two private spaces with the private offices, which are used for accounting and other back office functions, to allow for collaboration. Each 10×10 modular office feature coffered ceilings, LaCour motorized sit-to-stand desks, Geiger office furniture, and Teknion glass and metal wall systems with sliding doors.

Shared amenities at the back of the office include a café, phone rooms, a huddle room, wellness room, IT and server room. The high-end cafe features gray ceramic tile backsplashes, natural walnut millwork with built-in appliances, a solid-surface island and high-top tables for seating, as well as elegant coffered ceilings.

“Our former office was challenging and tight and the way our business units were separated was not ideal,” said Eagle Point Office Manager Lauren Patton. “MKDA partnered with our team to devise an elegant solution that would meet our regulatory requirements while also providing a sophisticated, productive and social work environment that we can grow in for many years to come.”
