MKDA was one of 12 designers invited to create a staged vignette at “Rooms with a View,” an annual fundraiser that supports 18 local Connecticut charities. The event took place at Southport Congregational Church from November 10th-12th with each room creatively depicting this year’s theme “Design for the Greater Good.”
MKDA was the first commercial firm to participate in this event and, as such, the team opted to create a wellness room. Drawing upon MKDA’s human-centric design philosophy, our concept was based on enhancing the overall health and wellbeing of users – a common priority among our clients for their post-pandemic workplaces. Our vignette built upon the typical corporate wellness room and elevated it by immersing individuals into a tranquil, spa-like environment. We selected soothing natural materials, such as wood and stone, ambient lighting, aromatic fragrances, and even a small rock garden to reduce stress and rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit.
A special thank you to our industry partners and sponsors who helped transform our vision into a reality: International Lights, Magna Construction, Insidesource, Waterworks, Genrose Stone and Tile, Visual Comfort, Wood Veneer Hub, Shaw Contract, Glamora, Phillip Jeffries, Carnegie Fabrics, Tagwall, Ring’s End, and David Clogg.
