No. 1 on Conde Naste Traveler’s Readers Choice Awards 2019 for the Best hotel in the Caribbean and Central America, S Hotel Jamaica was designed to honor its Caribbean locale and to “infuse architectural elements that were inspired by Miami’s South Beach.”

Bringing Miami Flair to a Jamaican Paradise

S Hotel in Montego Bay offers an authentic Jamaican experience blended with a bold architectural style that is pure South Beach. The concept for the $12.5 million Crissa Hotels redevelopment of the former Breezes Montego Bay Hotel into this new 120,000-square-foot luxury hotel was to marry the sophistication of an urban hotel with the laid-back vibe of a beach resort, bringing an elevated level of hospitality to the area. MKDA took a geometrical approach to the building in order to capitalize on the breathtaking surrounding ocean views.

The project team stripped the building of extraneous decorative elements and reinforced its structural bones to both modernize the architecture and allow for the addition of two floors at this 120,000 square foot resort.

The Arrival Experience

The entrance sets an inviting tone for the property with a beautiful porte-cochere and cobblestone drive, leading to an entrance facade with Jatoba hardwood set against a crisp white facade to frame the entrance and create a path into the hotel’s interior.

Framing Nature's Vistas

The open-air lobby frames sea-side views and beckons guests to take a swim in the crystal blue waters of the infinity pool, which blends seamlessly into the sea. It features a spacious wood-floor and a variety of art pieces from local Jamaican artists. Flanking the lobby, the restaurant and spa provide similar breathtaking vistas and offer world-class services.

Rooms were likewise designed to frame the views with XX balconies and XX.

Luxurious Experiences

The hotel provides visitors with numerous luxury experiences. On the roof, the Sky Club provides magnificent ocean views with a glass-encased pool that enables guests to feel as if they are floating in midair. The hotel’s spa provides individuals with special Irie Baths, allowing them to indulge in a unique Jamaican cultural experience. These three subterranean marble plunge pools with varying temperatures are specifically designed for kinetic energy therapy while also aiding in circulation, elevating this hotel to a whole new level.
