We are proud to announce the establishment and endowment of the Milo Kleinberg Prize for Excellence in Architecture at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design’s School of Architecture in Jerusalem.
Earlier this month, MKDA CEO Michael Kleinberg and Project Manager Josh Kleinberg attended Bezalel’s annual Prize Ceremony, where Michael spoke to students, faculty, and members of the architectural community about Milo’s life, legacy, and the values that have guided MKDA since 1959.
Milo Kleinberg came to the United States from Vienna as a child in 1939 and, with little more than a creative spirit and determination, went on to found Milo Kleinberg Design Associates — the firm that would grow into MKDA. He was also deeply connected to Israel, a bond that led him to become closely involved with organizations including Israel Bonds and Ben-Gurion University, and that earned him an honorary degree from Bezalel Academy in 1999.
“Today, it is our pleasure and our honor to establish and endow the Milo Kleinberg Prize for Excellence in Architecture in honor of my father,” Michael said.
“Through this prize, we hope to support and enrich the next generation of architects and designers while continuing the legacy of creativity, mentorship, and design excellence that he established throughout his career.”
The inaugural recipients of the prize were Yogev Einav and Sivan Hagar for their project Alliance 2.0, and Stav Shapira and Ekatrina Sherman for their project At a Crossroads.
Congratulations to all four recipients. We look forward to following your careers and celebrating your future achievements.
