William Saltos Joins MKDA as Director of BIM Technology

William Saltos, ISSM, has joined MKDA in the newly formed role of Director of BIM Technology. A leading expert in Building Information Modeling (BIM), Saltos will maintain and expand the firm’s practice-wide BIM standards to elevate the firm’s digital design capabilities and project quality.  He will also provide project support and train MKDA project teams on advanced BIM modeling processes and requirements, content creation, and coordination.

Experience and Credentials

Saltos brings over 20 years of experience in applying innovative technological solutions and optimized application of VR/AR technologies to complex national and international built environments. He was most recently a Senior BIM Manager at Michael Baker International, and prior to that held leadership positions at Gensler and AECOM/Ellerbe Becket. 

Throughout his professional career, Saltos has supported and managed numerous complex projects, including mixed-use developments, airports and hospitals. Notable projects include Tyndall AFB Digital Twin in Panama City, FL; Stony Brook Medical Center in New York (465,000 SF); and the VA Medical Center in Orlando, FL (1.2M SF). Internationally, Saltos has worked on King Khaled International Airport expansion in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (3.5M SM); Kifaf WASL mixed-use development in Dubai, EAU (734,000 SM); and Sidra Medical and Research Center in Doha, Qatar (400,000 SM). He has also worked on projects in Europe, South America and Africa.

Saltos holds a B.S. in Architecture from Catholic University of America. He additionally holds US Department of State Secret Clearance and has been named a US Department of Defense Information System Security Manager and Autodesk Certified Professional. 

“I’m really looking forward to leveraging my experience in BIM and other innovative technologies to add value to the design process and to eventually assist in adding new service lines such as Scan-to-BIM for existing conditions and BIM for facility management,” said Saltos. “Additionally, I hope to play an integral role in the future development of MKDA’s Architectural capabilities and international presence.”
