“The best advice I can give to someone starting out their career
is that walls and barriers are not meant to bang your head against
to get to the other side, but for figuring out how to get around or climb over for what you want." Roberto Espejo Miami Studio Principal

Q & A with Roberto Espejo

Name 3 words that describe you.
Passionate, Optimistic, Indefatigable
Who is someone you admire, and why?
My father and architecture mentor, Cesar Pelli, for sure. No matter what social or work context, they were always focused and present, no matter who they would be talking to. They never looked over your shoulders and totally engaged.

“You Are Here: Discovering the Magic of the Present Moment” by Thich Nyat Hanh
What skill do you think everyone should learn?

What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Being an integral part of raising two amazing human beings, my son Sebastian and my daughter Rubi.
How would you describe your job in one sentence?
I’ve never felt that I had a job but have been told that what I do is organize architectural playdates with my friends and collaborators.

Latin Jazz

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami.
